(Provocative Title) The Standards of a Successful Paragraph
(Unity/Topic Sentence) The standards of a successful paragraph include unity, adequate development, and coherence. (Adequate Development/Body) Unity is the first standard of a successful paragraph, as it sets the tone and central idea through the topic sentence. Adequate development is the second standard of a successful paragraph, as it utilizes details and reasoning in a body paragraph. The last standard of a successful paragraph is coherence, which exists throughout the entirety of the paragraph with stability and key words. (Coherence/Conclusion) All in all, the standards of a successful paragraph require unity, adequate development, and coherence. (The Little Brown Handbook 72).
